Everything Is an Illusion

At first glance, this photograph captures a peaceful woodland creek, framed by trees and touched by autumn light. But the longer you look, the more unsettling it becomes.
The dark cypress knees near the center resemble a small procession of figures. Their reflections stretch into the water like shadows of people who once stood there.
And knowing the history of Moores Creek gives that illusion another dimension.
