This weekend, our travels took us to Old Waynesborough Park in Goldsboro. I have always enjoyed learning about other people’s lives and imagining the work they once did, so I was particularly drawn to the Faircloth Law Office. I entered with deep respect for the work it represented.
The copying press helped me imagine the attorney’s work in another time. The open law books brought back a memory of my own.
In 2001 or 2002, I took an 80 hour paralegal course through Binghamton University. Our class traveled to the law library in White Hall at Syracuse University to research and write a legal memorandum. I remember searching through the books and following one reference to another.
I always thought I would eventually work as a paralegal. Standing in that old office, I remembered a path I once imagined for myself.
