A Girl and Her Creek
In a time when so much of childhood can happen indoors or around a screen, there was something refreshing about watching her entertain herself in such a simple way. She carried herself with a quiet confidence. She seemed capable and comfortable, as though being at the creek with her bait bucket was exactly where she belonged. There is something wonderful about children learning to enjoy their own company, to explore, and to create their own little adventures. Perhaps those simple afternoons are where independence begins.
